Citristrip® Paint & Varnish Stripping Gel can not be used on composite decking. While composite decking boards look like wood, they are made mostly of plastic. Please contact the deck manufacturer for a composite deck paint remover recommendation.

Citristrip® Paint & Varnish Stripping Gel can be used to remove multiple layers at a slower rate and can be spread over large areas. It stays wet and active for up to 24 hours allowing stripping of multiple layers in one step. We recommend using chemical-resistant gloves.

We do not recommend using CitriStrip® Stripping Gel on plastic or fiberglass.

If the stripper is drying or getting gummy before it works, you may not be applying a thick enough layer of stripper. In order to really soften and liquify a paint, the remover will need to be several times thicker than the paint film, so put on a thick layer. Remove stripper from surface with plastic scraper or brush.

Use a clean abrasive pad dipped in After Wash or Odorless Mineral Spirits to loosen remaining finish and remove any residue. Surface should be completely clean and dry before refinishing.

Dispose of empty containers and leftover product at your local household hazardous waste collection facility. If one is not available, dispose of in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.
